Mississippi State tight end Antonio Harmon enters Transfer Portal
Mississippi State Bulldogs tight end Antonio Harmon has entered the Transfer Portal, On3 has learned.
During his time with Mississippi State, Antonio Harmon played in 19 games and he had 19 receptions for 159 yards and a touchdown during that time. In total, he spent four seasons in Starkville.
Antonio Harmon came to Mississippi State as a three-star recruit in the Class of 2021, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. At the time, he was classified as a wide receiver but he’s since moved to tight end. At 6-foot 4-inches and 205lbs, he has good size for the position. Still, coming out of high school at Kosciusko in Mississippi he was the 61st-ranked wide receiver and the 422nd-ranked player overall in that recruiting cycle.
In his final high school season, Antonio Harmon had 26 catches for 474 yards and caught eight touchdowns. That helped catch the attention of several power conference schools that would recruit him at the time. However, the pandemic did end up impacting his high school recruitment.
At the time, Antonio Harmon had committed to playing for Mike Leach, who would pass away in December of 2022. Since then, the Bulldogs have had two different head coaches in two seasons, with Jeff Lebby most recently filling that role. It was following Leach’s passing that Harmon was moved to tight end to fill a need on the roster.

With Jeff Lebby coming to Mississippi State, Antonio Harmon was expected to move back to wide receiver, but he never saw the field during the 2024 season.
2024 was a frustrating season on the whole for Mississippi State. The Bulldogs went 2-10 for the season and 0-9 in SEC play. The passing offense would finish 53rd in the country, averaging 239.3 yards per game, even amid injuries at the quarterback position. However, the Bulldogs were just 86th in scoring offense, averaging 25.8 points per game.
The Transfer Portal opened for its Winter Window on December 9th. It’s going to be an important stretch for the Bulldogs as they look to rebuild the roster to improve from 2024’s effort.
