Former Ole Miss receiver Ayden Williams has committed to transfer to rival Mississippi State, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Williams, who entered the portal Jan. 4 and has two years of eligibility remaining, commited after an official visit Thursday to the Starkville campus, where he connected with second-year Bulldogs head coach Jeff Lebby, the former Rebels offensive coordinator from 2020-21, and receivers coach Chad Bumphis.

Williams played high school football at Ridgeland (Ridgeland, MS), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 82 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

In two seasons with Ole Miss, Williams caught seven passes for 119 yards, never scoring a touchdown. This past season, Williams amassed 39 yards on three receptions.

As a recruit, he was sought after by programs such as South Carolina, Georgia and LSU. It remains to be seen if they come calling once again, as he moves on with his football journey and enters the transfer portal.

Northern Illinois transfer WR Cam Thompson commits to Mississippi State

Former Northern Illinois receiver Cam Thompson will transfer to play for Mississippi State. He spent the past two seasons with the Huskies and brings two years of eligibility with him to Starkville.

Thompson appeared in 11 games for NIU this past season to finish with 28 catches for 391 yards and three touchdowns. He also served as a kick returner with nine returns overall on the year, including one that he brought back for a score.

The 6-foot receiver chose the Bulldogs after also taking visits with California and West Virginia.

Thompson attended Boardman High School in Youngstown, Ohio, but was unranked in the 2022 cycle. He originally committed to Eastern Illinois, playing four games as a true freshman to take a redshirt year before transferring to Northern Illinois.
