WATCH: Rara Thomas makes acrobatic touchdown catch to extend Mississippi State lead vs LSU
The Mississippi State offense was firing on all cylinders to start the Saturday showdown against LSU. Rara Thomas got in on the fun in the second quarter — and in acrobatic fashion.
Thomas leaped over a defender to make an impressive touchdown catch on a pass from Will Rogers to make it a 13-0 Mississippi State lead with 2:14 to play in the second quarter. The Bulldogs previously scored on a 37-yard touchdown run from Jo’Quavious Marks in the first quarter, but Thomas’ score added some cushion.

Conference games are a big deal, especially on the road. However, Leach isn’t changing his philosophy whatsoever.
He spoke about how he plans to keep his players focused on the task at hand during Monday’s press conference. Leach said this game is no more season-defining for Mississippi State than the first two or the following nine will be.
“You just line up each week and play one defining game after the next,” said Leach. “So then after a while, say, 12-defining games, you figure out where you’re at. You just do the best you can each game and then try to focus on what we’re trying to do in our building which is focus on the specifics of improving.”
