Texas Longhorns transfer defensive lineman Jaray Bledsoe is taking his talents to Starkville, joining the Mississippi State Bulldogs via the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned.

Bledsoe has appeared in two games this season, recording two total tackles. In the 2023 campaign, Bledsoe made a career-high eight appearances, tallying four tackles. Bledsoe only played in one game in his true freshman season in 2022 before redshirting.

Jaray Bledsoe played high school football at Marlin (TX), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 144 overall recruit and No. 19 defensive lineman in the 2022 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Moving forward, Jaray Bledsoe will hope his new home in college football with Mississippi State better suits his desires. Meanwhile, the Longhorns are focused on their College Football Playoff First Round showdown with Clemson.

More on Mississippi State Bulldogs, NCAA Transfer Portal

Moreover, Jaray Bledsoe isn’t the only former Texas defender headed to Mississippi State, as transfer linebacker Derion Gullette has signed with Bulldogs out of the portal as well. Gullette will have multiple years of eligibility remaining.

Gullette was a four-star prospect in the 2023 signing class. He was also a Top 200 prospect in the class, so it’s easy to see why he was highly sought after.

After redshirting in 2023, Gullette played in five games in 2024, making two total tackles. Along with Mississippi State, Ole Miss was an intense suitor for Gullette’s services.

A member of the Longhorns’ class of 2023 out of Teague High School but from Marlin, Gullette was ranked as the No. 140 overall prospect, the No. 13 linebacker, and the No. 28 player in the state of Texas in the 2023 On3 Industry Ranking. On3 ranked Gullette as the No. 82 overall prospect, the No. 7 linebacker, and the No. 17 player in the state of Texas.
