Mississippi State is dealing with a pair of injuries to key offensive players after a win against Western Michigan on Saturday. Both quarterback Will Rogers and running back Jo’Quavious “Woody” Marks — who was already banged up — left with injuries.

Rogers left with an apparent injury to his left arm or shoulder in the fourth quarter and did not return, while Marks came out midway through the second quarter with a gimp after twisting his knee. Head coach Zach Arnett didn’t have any definitive updates on the two after the game.

“No updates. We’ll get them back to the facility and we’ll do a thorough evaluation and obviously we’ll know more when we talk on Monday. But, those guys are warriors. They didn’t want to come out but — that’s why I appreciate coaching guys like that. They’re bulldog-mentality guys,” Arnett said.

Mississippi State won, 41-28, with Marks carrying eight times for 38 yards. Rogers completed 16-of-22 for 189 yards and three touchdowns before his exit.

Losing Rogers or Marks for any extended period for time would be a major loss for Mississippi State.

Prior to Saturday, Marks had carried 72 times for 420 yards and 4 touchdowns — a 5.8 yard per carry clip. He’s been a focal point of the Bulldogs offense as they pivot to a more run-centric offensive scheme.

And Rogers is as experienced and skilled as SEC quarterbacks come. He’s played in 41 games including Saturday and has nearly 12000 passing yards on his career.

It was an injury-filled Saturday for SEC teams, including some high-profile names

Malachi Moore, Sedrick Van Pran, and AJ Swann, among others, either started the day banged up or sustained an injury along the way.

But none might be bigger than the injury sustained by LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, who managed to finish the game and lead his squad to a win despite a rib injury.

“He’s just got a heart of a champion,” coach Brian Kelly told the ESPN broadcast crew after the game. “You don’t get many chances to coach a guy like that, and I’m just so happy that I got an opportunity to have him on my team. And then find a way to keep the points down when you’ve got a player like that.”

Daniels did it all, using his legs to extend drives in key situations and hitting his talented receivers in the passing game.

Star receiver Malik Nabers recorded six catches for 146 yards and a touchdown, while fellow receiver Brian Thomas Jr. recorded four catches for 66 yards and a score.

The LSU quarterback finished 15-of-21 passing for 259 yards and three touchdowns, while also adding 15 carries for 130 yards and a touchdown.
