Missouri is off to a 5-0 start. The Tigers are coming off a 38-21 win over Vanderbilt and they will now host LSU this weekend in Columbia. They will do so in front of numerous recruits, but none are bigger than in-state five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo.

There was some chatter about Wingo making it to Dallas this weekend for the Red River Shootout as a Texas recruit. College Station was another place mentioned as a possible destination this weekend when Texas A&M hosts Alabama.

The Wingo camp confirmed early Tuesday morning that the No. 24 prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings will stay home after Senior Night and watch Eliah Drinkwitz‘s program try to stay undefeated.

This is a big visit for Wingo and Missouri. Texas has grabbed the momentum in this race after having the family in Austin last month for the Wyoming game. The Longhorns hold the edge on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Not too long ago, Wingo’s recruitment looked like it could end soon, but this one could still have a ways to go. He is now looking to take an official visit to Colorado as well. His recruitment is very fluid. Wingo has had Dec. 20 set as his commitment date, so we will see if he takes it that far.

Wingo has a good feel for Missouri

Drinkwitz and the in-state Tigers landed a big commitment from Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri earlier this summer. Like Nwaneri, Wingo is from Missouri and the local program wants him to stay home too.

“Missouri is my home-state school and it is close to home. I know a lot of people up there and their pitch to me is to stay home. It is close to St. Louis and the main message from the players and the coaches is to stay home and represent your city.”

Wingo and Coach Drink have created a bond.

“He is one of the head coaches that I talk to the most and have a great relationship with. It is very casual with Coach Drink. Being comfortable with the coaches and the players are something super-important to me and he is one of the coaches I am comfortable with. With Missouri, it is that comfortable feeling because of who all I know there. From the coaches to Luther Burden to Marvin Burks, Jr. to others, that is something that stands out about Missouri.”
