Brady Cook injury update: Missouri QB went to hospital before returning to game vs. Auburn
Missouri quarterback Brady Cook was conspicuously absent for more than an hour after suffering an apparent ankle injury in Saturday’s 21-17 win over Auburn.
After the game, coach Eli Drinkwitz explained exactly why.
Cook apparently went to the hospital during the game for an MRI. After getting positive news on his ankle injury, Cook reportedly told the team he wasn’t going to miss the game.
He re-entered in the second half, after a team spokesman had told ESPN that he was “unlikely to return” to the contest.
“I’ve only got two and a half games left on Faurot Field, I’m not missing this one in the hospital,” Cook reportedly told his teammates.
He returned to the game and helped spark a rally, with Missouri trailing by 14 points. He would lead the team all the way back, even using his legs for some key conversions in the fourth quarter.
Brady Cook finished the game 11-of-22 passing for 194 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions.
Missouri, though, mounted two second-half scoring drives to retake the lead and put the screws to Auburn in the final moments. The defense did the rest, hanging on for the win.

Missouri quarterback Brady Cook headed to the locker room after suffering an apparent injury on a sack in the first quarter.
Cook appeared to suffer the injury without contact, going down before the pass rush got to him, taking a big loss in the process.
The Missouri starter then jogged off the field at about three-quarters speed, but he did so prior to a third-down snap. He pretty immediately headed to the locker room hurt.
The ESPN broadcast crew initially reported that he was expected to return to the game and was in the locker room getting his ankle retaped.
But after more than 45 minutes, Brady Cook had still not re-emerged. After halftime, ESPN reported he was unlikely to return, citing a team spokesman. Things obviously changed, for the best for the Tigers.
