Brady Cook injury update: Status of Missouri QB revealed vs. South Carolina
Missouri starting quarterback Brady Cook has been listed as doubtful on the SEC availability report throughout the week. However, he may be starting for the Tigers after all on Saturday against South Carolina.
Cook is going to warm up and attempt to play against the Gamecocks, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. The insider revealed the news Saturday morning on Twitter.
“Sources: Missouri quarterback Brady Cook is expected to be a true game-time decision at South Carolina today, as he’s expected to attempt to play,” Thamel posted.
“He’s going to warm-up and see how he feels, as he’s battling an injured wrist. He’d been considered doubtful on the injury report.”
If Missouri does indeed get Brady Cook back it would be a huge boost for a Tigers offense that has struggled with Drew Pyne at QB. The Notre Dame and Arizona State transfer has completed 59.8 percent of his passes for 391 yards, with 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on the season.
As for Brady Cook, the senior has completed 62.8 percent of his passes on the year. Cook has thrown for 1,575 yards with 7 touchdowns and 1 pick.
Gamecocks coach Shane Beamer was asked earlier this week if the game plan changes depending on who is playing quarterback for Missouri.

“Not really. They do what they do and it’s line up, run outside zone with the running backs and it’s drop back and find ways to get the ball to (Luther) Burden and (Theo) Wease,” Beamer said. “And no matter who the quarterback is back there they’re going to do that.”
Beamer added that he has plenty of respect for both Cook and Pyne.
“Both quarterbacks can run,” he said. “(Drew) Pyne had a quarterback run the other night that was a huge play in the Oklahoma game for a first down. Brady Cook obviously is a really talented runner as well.”
Whoever is starting for Missouri on Saturday, South Carolina aims to be ready.
“So other than just Cook being a little bit more experienced than Pyne, that would be the only thing,” Beamer said. “But Pyne is a guy that’s been around football for a while too now. So this isn’t his first rodeo. So no, it really doesn’t change anything.
“For us it’s going to be we’ve got to figure out a way to slow down this outside zone scheme that they run very well and figure out a way to keep No. 3 and No. 1 in check.”
