Missouri quarterback Brady Cook is expected to be upgraded to questionable for the Tigers’ showdown against Alabama on Saturday, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Cook suffered an ankle injury in Missouri’s win over Auburn last week and has reportedly been extremely limited at practice this week.

Cook headed to the hospital during Saturday’s game after going down in the first quarter. He later returned, although the injury appears to be lingering. Cook was reportedly in a boot when Missouri walked through Bryant-Denny Stadium on Friday.

When Brady Cook returned to the game, the Tigers trailed Auburn by 14 points. The veteran QB finished the game 11-of-22 passing for 194 yards, helping Missouri complete the comeback and secure the 21-17 victory.

Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz noted the only reason Cook was able to be evaluated and return so quickly to the game was because MU Health is right across the street from the stadium.

“If it’s not a home game, we’re not able to get over to MU Health and we’re not able to get the MRI and we’re not able to get that read in a timely manner,” Drinkwitz said. “That’s the one time I was very thankful that games lasted three and a half hours. Because if it was a two and a half hour game, it probably wouldn’t have happened. No, it wouldn’t be a possibility if you weren’t at home and very fortunate for MU Healthcare.

“And it’s another reason why this is one of the best universities in the world. It’s an AAU institution. It’s got — we’re the state school and a land-grant institution and got the ability to have your own healthcare. We got several players on our team and Chuck Hicks child was born a couple weeks ago over at MU Healthcare and got a few more that’ll be coming. So it’s an awesome thing.”

On the road this week, Missouri won’t have its familiar hospital only a short walk away. Nonetheless, the Tigers will look to take down the Crimson Tide as the two programs square off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will air live on ABC.
