Missouri continues to rack up impressive victories, as Dennis Gates’ squad defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks on Wednesday.

The Tigers avenged an earlier season loss to Eric Musselman’s bunch, and the vibes couldn’t have been any better after the SEC showdown. Speaking with the media afterwards, Gates explained just how important Wednesday’s victory was for Missouri.

“I just knew both teams were in desperation for a win,” stated Gates, via SEC Network. “They were on a three-game losing streak, we were on a two-game losing streak. You want to be able to split when you have home and away games, and we needed this game.”

“We didn’t blink. That’s our philosophy: Don’t blink. Our guys were able to stay focused on the game, and I truly believe — we were down seven, six points and our guys just kept encouraging each other. It’s usually the words that are being said, and our guys said some powerful words.”

Continuing, Gates couldn’t be happier with the fan support the Tigers have been getting, and made sure to point out how important they are to the fantastic start Missouri has enjoyed.

“You credit I built, we built. I say that as former players, the entire city. They’re sacrificing their time to be here and that’s most important,” stated Gates. “When you’re at the infant stages of building a program it’s very important that you have the consistency, and our crowd has been consistent.

“… I’m just excited, man. It’s a win for our fans. Missouri fans showed out.”

Moreover, Missouri basketball guard Kobe Brown led the way for the Tigers, amassing 17 points and six rebounds on the night. Off the bench, guard DeAndre Gholston was essential as well, adding 16 points to the effort.

Now, Missouri and Dennis Gates will hope to keep the good times rolling, but a gigantic matchup is on the horizon. The Tigers will welcome one of the top teams in the country to town on Saturday, as they’ll face the Alabama Crimson Tide.
