Eli Drinkwitz sends NSFW demand to Mississippi State on final possession: 'Shut the f**k up or I'm going to score'
The game was already in hand for Missouri, but head coach Eli Drinkwitz wanted to send a message as some Mississippi State players jawed with his own near the goal line.
And while the TV microphones didn’t pick up what he was saying, it wasn’t too hard to read his lips. And his message was a blunt one.
“HEY MISSISSIPPI STATE, SHUT THE FUCK UP OR I’M GONNA SCORE,” Drinkwitz appeared to holler.
Missouri ultimately did not go on to score and won, 39-20.
By the time Drinkwitz was chirping with the Bulldogs, the Tigers had already thoroughly worn them down.
Missouri finished with an edge in total yardage, time of possession and total plays, 77 to 50. The Tigers had 24 first downs, went 11-for-18 on third downs and 2-for-2 on fourth downs while only punting twice and committing no turnovers.
Drinkwitz isn’t new to some chirping
Drinkwitz came in hot to the postgame press conference after the Tigers’ 30-23 win over Oklahoma. Following the victory, Drinkwitz took a dig at former Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops.
“This will be real disappointing to Bob Stoops, but OU doesn’t always whip Missouri’s ass anymore. With that, I’ll open it up for questions,” Drinkwitz said.
Drinkwitz’ remark was a reference to a comment Stoops made this past summer when discussing Oklahoma joining the SEC.
“We beat the hell out of Missouri, all of a sudden now we’re supposed to be afraid of them?” Stoops told ESPN.

Mizzou coach sounded off
In Stoops’ tenure at the helm of the Sooners, he racked up an 8-1 record against Missouri. However, Missouri has now won two of its last three meetings against Oklahoma.
Missouri’s win on Saturday was particularly spectacular, as the Tigers scored two touchdowns in the final two minutes of the game. Missouri’s game-winning touchdown was a scoop and score by Zion Young with 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Missouri was without its starting quarterback, Brady Cook, in the win and backup QB Drew Pyne led the Tigers instead. In the win, Pyne completed 14-of-his-27 pass attempts for 143 yards and three touchdowns without throwing an interception.
Wide receiver Theo Wease Jr. was Pyne’s top target. Wease finished the game with four catches for a team-high 70 yards and two scores. Drinkwitz was elated with his team’s comeback victory.
“Felt pretty good. I thought Coach Stoops did a nice job stirring it up this summer,” Drinkwitz said. “I thought their coaches did some stuff this summer that felt like they stirred it up a little bit, with some tweets and different things. So our guys were ready.”
