Ennis Rakestraw injury knocks him out of Missouri-Tennessee game
Missouri is down a defensive back against No. 5 Tennessee following an Ennis Rakestraw injury that has knocked him out of the game for now.
Rakestraw left the game and headed to Missouri’s injury tent on the sideline after colliding with a teammate on a shot down the field by Tennessee. As he went for an interception on a deep ball from quarterback Hendon Hooker, Rakestraw collided with fellow defensive back Joseph Charleston, striking his head on Charleston’s back.
CBS sideline reporter Sherree Burress provided an update on Rakestraw during the second quarter.
“Down here on the Missouri sideline I’m just spotting Ennis Rakestraw,” Burress said. “He did go back to the locker room, but you may remember he went into the medical tent. I saw him look a little wobbly. I am told he is out for now, Missouri’s just going to be extra careful for him.”
The Tigers have also at least temporarily lost edge rusher Tyrone Hopper II. Hopper was seen heading to the locker room with a trainer midway through the second quarter.

Prior to injury, Ennis Rakestraw had recorded two tackles and two pass breakups in the game before exiting.
His departure will leave the Tigers a bit thinner in the secondary going against an elite Tennessee passing game, though the Volunteers are without star receiver Cedric Tillman for Saturday’s contest.
Tennessee led 21-7 with 10:24 remaining in the first half at the time of this writing.
