Four-Star S Marvin Burks Jr. flips from Ole Miss to Missouri
Four-star safety Marvin Burks Jr. of Saint Louis (MO) Cardinal Ritter College Prep flipped his commitment from Ole Miss to Missouri Sunday afternoon.
The 6-foot-2, 195 pounder had been committed to Ole Miss since October.
Burks on why he chose Missouri
“I chose Missouri because I felt that’s what’s best for me and my family,” Burks said. “I have a great relationship with the head coach and everyone else on the staff, and love the environment from the fans. Also feeling like a priority to a program that’s trying to turn things around who wouldn’t want to be a part of that at their home state. Having the opportunity to capitalize on NIL opportunities stood out as well.”
Relationship with coaching staff stood out + their plan for Burks
“My relationship with coach Drink and coach Baker is huge,” Burks said. “We talk every other day along with my guy coach Nojo! And just to top that off I have a great relationship with the players at Mizzou ! They plan on using me in multiple ways in their defense. We all mainly talked about me being in position to fly around and play freely and gradually get better at more than one thing.”

Marvin Burks Scouting Summary
“Versatile playmaker on both sides of the ball who is athletic enough to get sideline to sideline but isn’t scared to play between the hashes either. Long and leaner defensive back prospect with a wiry build. Solid top-end speed who eats yards with his stride length. Ran an impressive 11.16 100m and 22.60 200m given his length during his junior track and field season. Beyond a willing tackler. Enforcer in the run game and runs the alley with malicious intent. Rangy center fielder who has excellent field vision as a deep safety. Shows natural ball skills while playing receiver. High upside and high floor player whose best ball is ahead of him. If he is unable to carry the necessary weight you still have a rangy safety who is a willing tackler. If he adds the necessary weight while maintaining his athleticism you have a potential top-100 safety prospect.”
Burks currently ranks as the No. 343 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting services. He also tabs in as the No. 29 safety and the No. 10 player in the state of Missouri.
