Georgia Bulldogs edge rusher Damon Wilson has committed to transfer to the Missouri Tigers, On3’s Hayes Fawcett has learned.

The decision to transfer to Missouri is a bit of a surprise for Wilson. He has previously taken a visit to Ohio State and it had been rumored that he was going to be on his way to Columbus. That didn’t happen, however, and he’ll be a Missouri Tiger instead.

Damon Wilson played his high school football at Venice in Florida. There, he was a five-star recruit in the Class of 2023, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the third-ranked edge rusher and the 20th-ranked player overall in that recruiting cycle.

Since getting to Georgia in 2023, Damon Wilson has played in 26 games over two seasons. In that time, he’s made 26 total tackles, seven tackles for a loss, and 3.5 sacks. He also has two forced fumbles during his time with the Bulldogs.

The Missouri Tigers are coming off a season where they finished 50th in sacks for the season. That was on the Tigers averaging 2.15 sacks per game for a total of 28 sacks on the season. Missouri was also 63rd in tackles for a loss, averaging 5.39 per game for a total of 70 on the season. Neither one of those is a stat that Missouri did poorly in, but there is going to be hope that Damon Wilson is able to build on those numbers for the Tigers next year.

Missouri ended up winning 10 games during the 2024 season, including their Music City Bowl win over the Iowa Hawkeyes. That makes for the second season in a row where the Tigers were able to get to double-digit wins under Eli Drinkwitz. It’s success that’s difficult to maintain in the SEC but it also appears that he’s looking to add and improve the roster through the Transfer Portal.

The transfer portal opened on Monday, December 9th and ran through December 28th. The portal can also open for other reasons, like a change at head coach. On top of that, there will be another transfer window in the Spring, following practice then.

The 2025 Missouri transfer class currently ranks third this cycle in the 2025 On3 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings. It’s a recruiting class that includes 15 players who have already left the program and 16 who have entered the program. However, that number of players who have entered does not yet include Damon Wilson.

Damon Wilson will have two seasons of eligibility remaining at Missouri.
