LOOK: Mizzou picks up commitment EDGE rusher DJ Coleman
DJ Coleman is heading to the SEC.
The former Jacksonville State defensive end announced he’s transferring to Missouri. He entered the transfer portal in March and also took an official visit to Miami on April 6 during spring practice.
Coleman spent three years with Jacksonville State and had a big year in 2021 as a junior. He finished with 55 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks. He made the all-Ohio Valley Conference team two straight years during his time with the Gamecocks and started all 13 games last season.
Jacksonville State went 5-6 overall and 3-3 in OVC play in 2021. The Gamecocks played a one P5 team early in the year — a 20-17 victory over Florida State. In that game, Coleman had six tackles and one tackle for loss to help lead JSU to the marquee victory.
The Gamecocks have a chance to get another marquee victory in the future as they build their future schedules.

South Carolina to play Jacksonville State in 2023
South Carolina is starting to get its 2023 schedule together.
The Gamecocks are adding Jacksonville State to their 2023 slate, JSU’s athletic director informed the school’s Board of Trustees Monday night. South Carolina will pay Jacksonville State $1.3 million for the game as part of a verbal agreement, according to The Chanticleer, JSU’s student newspaper.
The interesting part about the addition is South Carolina’s 2023 schedule is already done, according to The State. However, South Carolina officials haven’t announced any changes publicly and told The State no changes have been officially made.
South Carolina also has games scheduled with North Carolina, Furman and Liberty on its 2023 schedule and, with the SEC games factored in, that means the Gamecocks have a full schedule already. It’s unclear which of the schools is coming off the schedule to make room for Jacksonville State.
