Troy (Mo.) Troy Buchanan EDGE Jahkai Lang made an early commitment to the Missouri Tigers. However, that’s not stopped other coaches from continuing to recruit the three-star prospect.

Lang, who is 6-foot-3 and 235 pounds, committed to the Tigers in mid-December, picking Mizzou then offers from Wisconsin, Tennessee, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, Michigan State, Iowa State, Kansas, Colorado, Washington State and Kentucky.

Since his commitment, Jahkai Lang has added new offers from Indiana and Arkansas. The Indiana offer came on Monday from Hoosiers defensive line coach Paul Randolph. The Arkansas offer on Jan. 29 interestingly came from former Mizzou head coach Barry Odom, who is now the defensive coordinator for the Razorbacks.

Where does Jahkai Lang’s commitment stand?

So how solid is Jahkai Lang’s commitment to the Tigers?

“I’m still committed to Mizzou, but I do plan on taking all of my officials,” Lang said.

But make no mistake, it’s going to be tough to beat the Tigers. Lang has built a solid relationship with the Mizzou head coach Eliah Drinkwitz. Coach Drink was on campus at Troy Buchanan on Jan. 24 to meet with Lang’s high school coach and check in on the Tiger commitment.

But with the Tigers making some shifts on the defensive side of the ball, including hiring Blake Baker as their new defensive coordinator, it appears Lang wants to check out other options to make sure he made the right choice.

Jahkai Lang hopes to meet with the new defensive coordinator when he takes a return visit to Columbia sometime in March. No date has been set yet, but he does plan on visiting Mizzou and likely other places.

“They haven’t given me a date yet, but probably in early March,” Lang said about his visit to Columbia. “I’m not sure if I’m taking any unofficials in the spring yet, besides Missouri.”

Jahkai Lang big in-state get for Mizzou

Jahkai Lang ranks as the No. 45 EDGE in the county, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also is the No. 442 player overall, per the On3 Consensus.

He also ranks as the No. 13 overall player in the Show-Me State.

As a sophomore last season at Buchanan, Lang recorded 60 total tackles, including 46 solo stops, 19 tackles for loss, eight sacks and four fumble recoveries. A two-way player, Lang was named first-team all-conference at defensive end and second-time all-conference on the offensive line.

Jahkai Lang is one of two early commitments for the Tigers. He is joined on the Mizzou commitment list by four-star St. Charles (Mo.) Francis Howell tight end Brett Norfleet.
