Missouri forward Jesus Carralero Martin has been ruled out for Wednesday night’s game against Arkansas, the program announced. He suffered a foot contusion that will keep him off the court.

Martin is averaging 2.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists through 17 games this season. He spent the last four years at Campbell before arriving in Columbia this year via the transfer portal. Last season, he appeared in five games before a wrist injury got in the way of his senior campaign.

Missouri is still searching for its first SEC victory of the year, bringing an 8-12 overall record and an 0-7 mark in SEC play into Wednesday’s game. It’s been a tough second year at the helm for Dennis Gates, who arrived at Mizzou last year from Cleveland State.

Arkansas has also struggled through conference play, entering the game against Missouri with a 1-6 record after starting the year 9-4. The Razorbacks are coming off a 63-57 loss to Kentucky earlier this week, and head coach Eric Musselman shared where things went wrong as his team suffered another league loss.

“We didn’t take care of the ball,” Musselman said. “I mean I don’t know. I obviously haven’t watched the film. There’s a lot going on in a head coach’s mind during the flow. So do I remember that stretch? Yes. I thought we turned it over during that stretch and maybe one ill-advised shot.”

Kentucky’s Antonio Reeves drilled a 3-pointer to push the lead to four points, before a turnover by Ellis and a layup by the Wildcats pushed the lead to six points.

Khalif Battle then turned it over for the Razorbacks and Reed Sheppard followed with a 3-pointer to push the lead to nine. For all intents and purposes, the game was over at that point. Musselman did see positives from the game, but overall it was disappointing to not find a way to win.

“The shot selection was much-improved tonight from where it has been. We were way more organized. And I thought we controlled the pace of the game,” Musselman said. “I mean that’s the No. 1 scoring team in the nation. I don’t know what the lowest scoring night that they’ve had [is], but I’m assuming that’s fairly close. And that’s with them going on that 8-0 run and busting us for some 3s really late in the game.”
