Luther Burden expected to play for Missouri against Georgia
Former Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver Luther Burden will suit up for Missouri Saturday against the Georgia Bulldogs, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports. Burden has been dealing with an undisclosed injury sustained in overtime against Auburn.
“Luther Burden is questionable heading into this game. He has an ankle injury, but I told he’s going to play today,” Thamel said on College GameDay. “He’s going to be 80 percent. They may not be able to use him in all the ways they have, he has a receiving catch for a touchdown, he’s obviously run for a touchdown, he has a punt return for a touchdown. He’s only going to be 80 percent. “
On Monday, the star Missouri wide receiver deleted all the pictures he had posted to the social media website, and posted a cryptic message on his story that simply read, “Patiently waiting.” While rumors of him potentially entering the transfer portal have been shot down immediately, there still hasn’t been any indication for when the Tigers’ season is over.
“In terms of scrubbing his Instagram, the source that I talked to a Columbia this week said he’s locked in and ready to go for the rest of this season, and we’ll see he can do against the Bulldogs tonight,” Thamel said.

While Burden only has ten catches for 78 receiving yards and a touchdown, he figures to be one of the focal points of the Missouri offense in the coming years. Evidently, he’s not happy with his current role, as he’s showing some displeasure on Instagram as rumors swirl.
Coming out of high school, Burden was ranked a five-star prospect by the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting services. He was a huge recruiting win for head coach Eli Drinkwitz, with Burden picking Missouri over the likes of Alabama and Georgia.
Burden ranked as the No. 3 overall player in the 2022 class coming out of East Saint Louis High School, electing to stay home.
Time will tell whether Luther Burden decides to end his time with the Tigers, but it would be a huge blow to Missouri if he does decide to enter the transfer portal.
