Luther Burden injury: Missouri star WR leaves game following vicious hit
Missouri is already dealing with a laundry list of offensive injuries and cannot afford to lose somebody else. Especially when that somebody is wide receiver Luther Burden, undoubtedly the Tigers’ best player.
Well, a huge hit early in the second quarter has forced Burden to leave Saturday’s game against Oklahoma. Burden received a jet sweep on a fourth down, trying to get past the line to gain. Billy Bowman had other ideas, though, and delivered a massive blow. As the OU sideline went crazy, Burden did not emerge back on his feet.
Burden stayed down on the Oklahoma sideline for a while before walking back to the other side under his own power. Missouri officials did not get to him while still down. Not too long thereafter, the SEC Network broadcast showed Burden walking into the medical tent.
You can check out the full moment here.
UPDATE: Burden has emerged from the medical tent and rejoined his teammates on the sideline. He did have a helmet on his head, indicating there was not much to worry about. And then on Missouri’s next offensive drive, he took the field.

Missouri is already without starting quarterback Brady Cook and running back Nate Noel. Those two have been dealing with nagging injuries and been on the injury report for a few weeks now. Losing Burden for any period of time would be a huge hit for the Tigers.
With all the injuries, if there is one person Mizzou can rely on against Oklahoma, it’s Burden.
Both offenses have struggled early on in the contest, maybe to no surprise. An explosive play or two could win up changing the outcome, on either side of the ball. Bowman certainly feels that way after making a huge hit to get Oklahoma’s offense the ball back.
