It seems Missouri has embraced the “stand on business” mindset, as it has been alluded to several times throughout Missouri’s weekly mini recap movie.

Defeating a ranked Tennessee team 37-6 at home, Tigers head coach Eli Drinkwitz — who was mic’ed up during the contest — told Vols coach Josh Huepel during their postgame handshake that Missouri “stands on business.” Now, it might just become the theme around the program.

Relive the epic victory over the Vols below:

Drinkwitz didn’t just say those words to Heupel’s face after the game — he said it to the entire college football world during his postgame interview. He wasn’t shy about sharing his feelings about how his team dominated its opposition.

“We wanted to stand on business tonight,” Drinkwitz said postgame, via the movie. “We had some unfinished business from last year but we came out here and took care of business. Our defense kicked their ass tonight.”

One season ago, an ailing 4-5 Mizzou squad went to Knoxville for a date against then-ranked No. 6 Tennessee and the Tigers had their tails handed to them. Sent back to Columbia with a 66-24 loss, Missouri was more embarrassed to be on the receiving end of such a beating. Now, they’re the ones handing out the butt-whooping for their home crowd to enjoy.

The win improved the Tigers to 8-2 on the season and will likely finish second in the SEC East behind Georgia. Looking ahead, matchups against Florida and Arkansas, which will likely see Mizzou as favorites in both games, will round out the Tigers’ regular season. That means a 10-win regular season and potential Sugar Bowl berth is theirs for the taking — but the Tigers also have everything to lose in the coming weeks.

Regarding it’s potential postseason hopes — Missouri climbed up five spots in the Week 11 College Football Playoff rankings from No. 14 all the way up to No. 9. The Tigers join the now No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs and No. 8 Alabama Crimson Tide to round out the three SEC teams ranked inside the College Football Playoff top 10.

Missouri’s next matchup against Florida is set for 7:30 p.m. ET live on ESPN. The Tigers are 11.5-point favorites against the Gators inside Memorial Stadium as Florida looks for its pivotal sixth win of the season against Missouri. The over/under line is set at 58.5 total points, according to Vegas Insider.
