Missouri freshman DL Williams Nwaneri plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal
Missouri freshman defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal after one season with the Tigers, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Nwaneri played in four games during his freshman campaign, preserving a redshirt and giving him four years of eligibility at his next school.
The 6-foot-6, 275-pounder was one of the highest-rated recruits in program history as part of the Tigers’ 2024 class.
Nwaneri checked in as the No. 7 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was also ranked as the nation’s No. 1 EDGE and the top prospect in Missouri.
Williams Nwaneri recorded two tackles, a sack and a quarterback hurry across those four games. Prior to coming to Missouri Nwaneri attended Lee’s Summit North High School where he was a three-year starter. He finished his high school career with 149 tackles, 25 tackles for loss and 23 sacks.

Boston College transfer QB could visit Missouri
While Missouri is losing Williams Nwaneri to the transfer portal, the Tigers could be adding former Boston College QB Thomas Castellanos.
Castellanos is in discussions to visit Missouri, according to Zach Blostein.
Castellanos was one of the first players to plan to enter the portal with how his season ended at Boston College. After being replaced by Grayson James with the Eagles, he stepped away from the team and had intentions to enter his name in the following day back in mid-November. He has since officially entered.
Castellanos spent the past two seasons with Boston College after starting his college career at UCF. While in Chestnut Hill, Castellanos was one of the better dual-threat quarterbacks in the country as he was 288-491 (58.7%) when passing for 3,614 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions while rushing for 1,307 yards and 14 more scores. Add that up and, in 21 appearances with BC, he posted an average of 234.4 yards per game with 47 total touchdowns.
