Missouri RB Cody Schrader accepts invite to 2024 Senior Bowl
Missouri star running back Cody Schrader established himself as one of the best running backs in college football the past two seasons. He helped to carry the Missouri Tigers to one of the most successful seasons in program history this year, churning out over 1,600 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns in the process.
Basking in the glow of his team’s 14-3 Cotton Bowl victory over Ohio State on Friday night, Schrader was invited to the 2024 Senior Bowl by Jim Nagy–the Executive Director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
He’ll join five of his teammates in Mobile, Alabama–the site of the Senior Bowl every year. The game will be played on February 3rd, 2024 at Hancock Whitney Stadium–home of the University of South Alabama. It will be nationally televised by NFL Network.
Eli Drinkwitz wanted Schrader in the 2024 Senior Bowl
As Missouri put together a special 2023 season — its first 11-win campaign in a decade — Cody Schrader emerged as one of the best stories in college football. A former Division II running back, he walked on at Mizzou and led the nation in rushing yards per game this year.
All season, Eli Drinkwitz has been calling on Schrader to be considered more than a story. He publicly campaigned for Schrader to be in the Heisman Trophy mix, and he finished eighth in the voting last month. Now, Drinkwitz wants another honor for his star back.
He called on Jim Nagy to invite him to the Senior Bowl.
“Man, you can’t say enough about a guy like Cody Schrader,” Drinkwitz said on SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt after the Cotton Bowl. “He’s got to be the best story in the country. I can’t believe Jim Nagy hasn’t put him in the Senior Bowl yet, but that’s a whole ‘nother conversation.”
Schrader’s impressive season earned him Consensus All-American honors this year. He currently leads the nation with 125.1 rushing yards per game.

More on the 2024 NFL Draft
The 2024 NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Michigan, with the first round on Thursday, April 25, the second and third rounds on Friday, April 26, and the fourth through seventh rounds on Saturday, April 27.
Players will have the opportunity to solidify their draft stock at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from February 26 through March 4.
The three-day event will be broadcasted throughout the weekend on ESPN and NFL Network.
To be eligible for the NFL Draft, players must be at least three years removed from their final year of high school while having used up their collegiate eligibility. Underclassmen are able to request league approval to become eligible for the draft, as are players who have graduated prior to using up all of their collegiate eligibility.
Last season, 69 players were granted special eligibility for the 2023 NFL Draft. 13 underclassmen who had completed their college degrees were also deemed eligible to be selected.
The deadline to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft is on January 15. NFL teams will receive a full list of eligible players in the class on January 19.
