Missouri coach Eliah Drinkwitz made landing the top talent in the Show-Me State a priority in the 2022 class. It appears he’s on track to do it again in the 2023 cycle after the addition of four-star EDGE Jahkai Lang.

Jahkai Lang, the No. 8 junior in Missouri, announced Friday morning that he committed to the Tigers over offers from Wisconsin, Tennessee, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, Michigan State, Iowa State, Kansas, Colorado, Washington State and Kentucky.

Lang out of Troy (Mo.) Buchanan is a big early Christmas present for the Tigers.

Jahkai Lang ranks as the No. 43 EDGE in the county, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also is the No. 328 player overall, per the On3 Consensus.

As a sophomore last season at Buchanan, Lang recorded 60 total tackles, including 46 solo stops, 19 tackles for loss, eight sacks and four fumble recoveries. A two-way player, Lang was named first-team all-conference at defensive end and second-time all-conference on the offensive line.

Lang becomes Mizzou’s second known commitment for the 2023 class. He is also the second four-star defensive lineman to pick the Tigers.

Jahkai Lang joins four-star EDGE Brett Norfleet as a Mizzou commit.

Norfleet is ranked as the No. 231 player in the country and the sixth-best junior in Missouri, according to the On3 Consensus.

The 2022 class in Missouri was talented, but the 2023 cycle could get even better.

The state has three players ranked in the top 100 nationally, including EDGE Chandavian Bradley and OT Cayden Green out of the Kansas City area.

CB Christian Gray and Marvin Burks Jr. are top uncommitted junior recruits in the St. Louis area the Tigers have targeted.
