Mizzou receiver announces plans for 2022 season
One of the fan favorites for the Missouri Tigers is taking the next step in his football career. On Saturday, Missouri wide receiver D’ionte ‘Boo’ Smith announced he’s declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Smith detailed his decision to move on from the college ranks.
“I would like to start off by saying thank god for the blessing that he has placed upon me,” Smith wrote. “My decision to come to Mizzou was the best decision I made. I want to thank all the Mizzou fans for welcoming me these past two years. I’ve had great memories and made friends that I now call family.
“I want to thank coach Drinkwitz, coach Hamdan and the rest of the Mizzou staff for pushing me to overcome adversity. I also want to thank all my advisors for helping me excel with academic excellence. Words can’t describe how thankful I am for the blessings and opportunities that I have here for these past two years at Mizzou. From the fans yelling my name ‘BOOOOOOOO’ to the coaching staff helping me to become a better man to make my childhood dreams a reality. With all that being said …

Smith has had stories college football career, but he’s looking to continue to improve as he moves on the next level.

After time honing his craft at smaller schools, D’ionte ‘Boo’ Smith took his talents to Missouri in 2020. While he didn’t set the world on fire in his time with the Tigers, he made an impact on his teammates, coaches and Missouri fans.
In two seasons with the Tigers, Smith hauled in 16 reception. In total, he racked up 260 receiving yards and one touchdown in his career. Additionally, he returned punts for the Tigers in 2021 — attempting returns on twelve occasions for 55 yards.
All it takes is one team to find a unique way to utilize Smith’s skillset in the NFL. With the ability to play offense and special teams, the wide receiver’s versatility will help him find his opportunity.
