Missouri will be without its leading rusher for a game against No. 15 Alabama, with tailback Nate Noel set to miss the game due to a foot injury.

That news comes courtesy of a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, citing sources.

Noel was injured during the team’s contest against Auburn last weekend. He briefly attempted a return to the game following his injury, but he will be unable to go this weekend.

That puts Missouri down a player who had run for 503 yards and two touchdowns. Nate Noel averaged 5.9 yards per carry.

Prior to his injury against Auburn, Noel was the team’s leading rusher in the contest, having logged five carries for 26 yards at halftime. He suffered the injury in the second half, but returned to the game ever so briefly.

“Leading rusher Nate Noel is dealing with a foot injury, he is also unlikely to return,” ESPN sideline reporter Taylor McGregor reported during the game. “But Mizzou wants to run the football, so look for Marcus Carroll to step up, who had three touchdowns against UMass last week.”

That’s the player Missouri will turn to now with Nate Noel sidelined.

Carroll is the team’s second-leading rusher, having logged 66 carries for 321 yards and a team-leading six touchdowns. He’s coming off a big game against UMass two weeks ago, tallying 91 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

So he’s certainly capable.

Alabama and Missouri are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, with a broadcast slated for ABC.
