Caleb Grill will be back in CoMo following the latest news on his eligibility on Monday.

Per a spokesperson at Missouri, via Jon Rothstein, Grill has received a medical hardship waiver. That will allow him to return to the Tigers’ roster for the upcoming season, which will be his sixth collegiate year.

Grill played in nine games over his first season at Mizzou last season. He would then miss 23 over the remainder of the year due to a wrist injury that he suffered early in December. As the spokesperson added, though, he has fully healed and has since returned to all basketball activities with the team.

In his appearances with the Tigers, Grill averaged 8.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.1 steals. All four statistics were among the best on the roster, including being the team’s leading rebounder on the season.

Before transferring to Missouri, Grill had spent four other seasons at Iowa State and UNLV. He had two separate stints with the Cyclones that one year with the Rebels fit in between. However, his second run in Ames came to an end after Iowa State dismissed him due to “failure to meet the program’s expectations”.

Over 125 games, including 53 starts, with all three programs, Grill has posted 6.8 points, three boards, 1.4 assists, and a steal per game.

Grill was one of five transfers to come in from out of the portal last offseason for Dennis Gates. He joined their program alongside Tamar Bates (Indiana), Connor Vanover (Oral Roberts), John Tonje (Colorado State), and Jesús Carralero Martin (Campbell).

Since then, Kansas and Missouri have met three times with each of the trio being Jayhawk victories. KU won 102-65 in their first game back together on December 11, 2021 inside Allen Fieldhouse en route to eventually winning the national title that year. They then returned to earned 95-67 win on the road in ’22-’23 before it came back to Lawrence this past season and they won the closest margin of the three with a final score of 73-64.
