McNeese manager Amir Khan has become the star of March Madness. He may have been the biggest story surrounding the program entering the Round of 32, maybe except for the future of head coach Will Wade. Khan may be on the move too, potentially following Wade to his next destination.

CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander reports Khan could go to NC State with Wade and even see his responsibilities inside the program grow. Khan is currently a manager but would receive a promotion to the basketball staff as a graduate assistant. A nice opportunity for the man who is currently the biggest name in college basketball.

“Amir Khan, the student manager that has gotten massively famous over the course of the last few days, I spoke with him afterward,” Norlander said. “It sounds like he’s going to follow Will Wade to NC State and be a graduate assistant. Additional roles and responsibilities to be determined.”

Norlander did not rule out Khan getting a bigger and better offer elsewhere. Wade has been honest about the opportunity this year’s NCAA Tournament has presented his team. “The goal is to go Power Five after this year and some of you guys can go with me,” Wade said after McNeese beat Clemson.

The same could be true about Khan. NC State appears to have a job available but if somebody else is going to offer Khan a better deal, Wade hopes the chance is taken.

But as of right now, the person nicknamed “Aura” is expected in Raleigh next season. A big piece of news for the ACC as a top storyline is entering the conference.

“He wants to continue his education and be a part of a basketball program at the college level,” Norlander said. “So, we will see more of him, we have not seen the last of him… Seems like NC State is the more likely destination for him.”

Khan has become a star of the NIL world in recent days. Reports have indicated he has made over six figures with companies like Insomnia Cookies and Buffalo Wild Wings getting involved. Topps even gave Khan his own card.

Everyone would have loved to see McNeese advance and continue Khan’s story throughout March. We will have to wait until October when NC State gets the 2025-2026 season rolling. It’s one where Wade will bring a ton of expectations to Raleigh, a program just a year removed from a Final Four.
