4-star TE Javonte Vereen commits to NC State
Havelock (N.C.) tight end Javonte Vereen has committed to NC State, announcing the news on CBS Sports on Friday.
He chose the Wolfpack over Louisville and Maryland.
Vereen is the No. 203 player in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
The Industry Comparison shows On3 is a higher on the tight end than others in the industry, slotting him as the No. 123 overall recruit in the 2023 On300 ranking.
He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $12.9k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Vereen joins Charlotte (N.C.) West Charlotte three-star offensive lineman Darion Rivers and Wake Forest (N.C.) Heritage three-star quarterback Lex Thomas in the Wolfpack recruiting class.
After visiting the school in January, Vereen had said they were one of his top two schools. NC State turned out to be his No. 1 school.
“Not only do they want to coach you, but they also want to have a lifelong relationship with you.” Vereen said told the Wolfpacker in January. “One of the things Coach Goebbel said to me is they will put all the tools in my box for me to be successful. That really touched me. All these other schools have promised me — and I know it’s not true — that I can definitely come in my freshman year and start. But he (Goebbel) kept it real. He told me he will give me the opportunity and if I work I can play my freshman year. He told me the truth.”
