This offseason, Brennan Armstrong made the jump from one ACC school to another, leaving Virginia for NC State. It seems like Armstrong thinks this was the right move for him.

Now, with the benefit of spring practice, Armstrong is confident he made the right decision, predicting a bright future for NC State at the quarterback position.

MJ [Morris] is great,” Brennan Armstrong said. “MJ’s great, the whole room is great. I mean, this is a pretty dang skilled room that I’m in. I honestly really believe that these guys obviously have game experience.”

Armstrong then emphasized that he thinks the quarterbacks are all incredibly talented and NC State is in great shape moving forward.

“I think the future here is really bright. I really do. Like, these guys can ball. I’m not gonna lie about that. They can really ball. I haven’t really seen game film. Obviously, I watched some of the bowl game. I’ve just been focusing on my feet here and getting this offense going, but yeah, this place is in good hands with the quarterback position. They’re really skilled. They can throw the ball, obviously, and I think they’re just playmakers.”

Brennan Armstrong has the added benefit of working with Robert Anae at NC State. Anae, the Wolfpack’s offensive coordinator, held that same position at Virginia for part of Armstrong’s time there.

“I took the feedback, took the coaching and it’s grown a lot. Now it’s funny because we just sit around and you know, we’ll do some offensive stuff, put game planning in for practices and things like that,” Armstrong explained.

“And he talks to me like a coach, but just like a normal guy. ‘What do you think about this?’ So it’s come a long way from getting yelled at as a freshman and sophomore to him just asking me ‘what do I think about this’ and kind of just getting my input on things.”

Brennan Armstrong on his familiarity with the offense

Thanks to that relationship with Robert Anae, Brennan Armstrong came to NC State with a leg up. By now, he feels very familiar with the team’s offensive system.

“It’s still some of the same play designs. Every team in America knows football. There’s not anything really special that you’re going to do that people don’t know. But I think with what he’s done, going to Syracuse and picking up some stuff there, we’ve added some cool stuff that we’ve got going on in this offense,” Armstrong said.

“I think he’s compiled everything he’s been doing and is trying to make this team understand what we’re doing, and then figure out what we’re best at. Obviously, that’s what it comes down to. What we’re best at.”
