Brennan Armstrong evaluates his chemistry with NC State receivers
Brennan Armstrong is heading into the 2023 season with a chip on his shoulder. But that chip is not affecting his chemistry with his new teammates. After the completion of the 2022 season, Armstrong decided to transfer from Virginia and joined the NC State Wolfpack.
So far, during the Wolfpack spring practices, he has been taking the time to get to know his new teammates. And following practice on Tuesday, the NC State quarterback talked about how he developed chemistry with the receivers and how that process it’s going so far.
“I think it started off; so, in the winter, you just get out there, start throwing with guys. You’re really not trying to teach too much,” said Armstrong. “I just want to talk with them, get out there, throw with them. I think, now, the chemistry is starting to get there, and I think the summer is going to be huge for us because now they’ve been in the offense. They’ve seen what’s going on in spring ball. They understand the route concepts, the things that we’re just trying to create on offense. And I think that’s going to go a long way.
“I think it’s going to be in our hands in this summer to really, really take the next step forward in just building confidence. That’s the main thing that I saw the difference in, from one year to the next, from ‘21 to ‘22; it’s just that confidence. When you step on that field, it doesn’t matter what play is called. We’re gonna make it work, and we’re gonna make a play out of it. So I think that and the summer is gonna be huge for us.”

Armstrong explains why he’s entering first season at NC State with a chip on his shoulder
Since joining the Wolfpack ahead of their spring ball workouts, Armstrong has been eagerly doing his best to get acclimated to the NC State system, coaching, and playbook. And while he is excited to hit the field with his new teammates in 2023, he also has an axe to grind. During a recent press conference, Armstrong explained why he has had a chip on his shoulder during spring practice and why it will remain for next season.
“Yeah, I mean, I just feel like I have something to prove. I really want to put two great years together, and there’s just a chip on my shoulder, and I think this place has been the best place for me to approve that,” said Armstrong. “There’s a lot of opportunity here. I think the guys, especially on the offensive side, are itching just to be better. I feel like they didn’t do their part last year. So, we’re all in this together. We’re all ready to hit the field, and I just think that eagerness on offense is a big deal of why we can be special on offense this year.”
