Jerry Deng has been among the better transfers in the portal over the last two offseasons. He’s now committed to his third program in as many seasons and, with that, his second in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Deng has committed to NC State in the NCAA Transfer Portal. That comes per reporting by On3’s Joe Tipton.

Deng spent this past season with Florida State after transferring in following his first collegiate year at Hampton. He has averaged 8.6 points (44.9% FG, 38% 3PT) and 3.1 rebounds per game over 64 games across those two seasons. That includes 7.0 points (43.4% FG, 37% 3PT), which had him fifth in scoring and second in three-point shooting, and 1.9 rebounds an outing this year as a reserve at FSU.

Deng, a native of Rochester, New York, played high school basketball at Norcross in Georgia. He was the No. 325 overall recruit there as a three-star in the 2023 cycle. He also rated as a Top-75 PF and a Top-25 player from the state of Georgia. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Now, per the latest update to On3’s Industry Ranking of 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players, Deng is just outside the Top-400 overall as a Top-100 PF. That’s after being a Top-225 transfer last offseason in entering the portal and going from Hampton to Florida State.

Deng is one of several key transfers from FSU this cycle amidst the coaching change in Tallahassee. 10 have elected to head elsewhere with over half of those having since committed now with Deng along with Taylor Bol Bowen (Alabama), Malique Ewin (Arkansas), Daquan Davis (Providence), Chandler Jackson (Arkansas State), and Anastasios Rozakeas (Mount St. Mary’s). Jamir Watkins, Christian Nitu, Justin Thomas, and Waka Mbatch are then all still available with Watkins as the most notable being a Top-10 transfer.

Now, with another coaching change in Raleigh, Deng is the latest addition to the roster under Will Wade. The Wolfpack have added five transfers now with Quadir Copeland and Alyn Breed following their coach from McNeese State while Tre Holloman (Michigan State), Colt Langdon (Butler), and Deng joining them at NC State.
