Former Virginia quarterback Brennan Armstrong commits to NC State
Former Virginia Cavaliers quarterback Brennan Armstrong has found his new home and will remain in the ACC. He announced Saturday that he will travel south to North Carolina after committing to NC State for 2023.
Armstrong wasn’t much of a force during his first two years at Virginia. However, he would earn the starting nod in the COVID shortened 2020 season and not look back. He had 2117 passing yards and 18 touchdowns in nine games during the COVID season.
He followed up that campaign with an even better 2021, throwing for 4449 yards and 31 touchdowns on his way to the Dudley Award, which is given to the best player from the state of Virginia. Last season, Armstrong had a few growing pains and dealt with a few injuries under Virginia’s first-year head coach Tony Elliott. He would finish the year with 2210 yards while completing 185 of his 338 pass attempts but had seven touchdowns to 12 interceptions.
Armstrong played high school football at Shelby (Ohio) High, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 603 overall recruit in the 2018 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
