Grayson McCall injury update: NC State QB taken to hospital after being carted off vs. Wake Forest
NC State starting quarterback Grayson McCall has been taken to the hospital after suffering a scary injury in the first quarter of Saturday’s game against Wake Forest.
McCall was on the wrong end of a hard hit from multiple Wake Forest defenders. He stayed down for several minutes and was eventually carted off the field.
According to the CW Broadcast, he has been taken to WakeMed for further evaluation. Grayson McCall missed two games earlier this season with an undisclosed injury.
The transfer quarterback dealt with multiple concussions previously during his time at Coastal Carolina.
NC State was trailing 3-0 with 9:53 left in the first quarter when Grayson McCall attempted to scramble for a first down on third-and-11. Several Wake Forest defenders converged on him, and his helmet went flying as he was hit.
The announcers pointed to McCall’s history of head injuries as he was down.
“Remember, this is a young man who has suffered a number of head injuries. Has actually had bleeding on the brain at different points in time in his career,” play-by-play man Thom Brennaman said. “And this appears to be a very, very serious injury.”
