Isaiah Moore exits North Carolina game in first quarter with injury
The N.C. State Wolfpack were banged up at multiple positions on Friday afternoon against the North Carolina Tar Heels. First, they had their backup quarterback, M.J. Morris, ruled out of the game with a lower body injury. Then the Wolfpack got the bad news late in the first quarter that their three-time captain and fifth year starter Isaiah Moore, might not return to the game.

“Talked about the injuries at quarterback. There have been a lot of injuries on that defense for the Wolfpack. And we’re being told that Isaiah Moore, who is a three-time captain, fifth year starter. He got banged up earlier and may not return now. Tony Gibson called him a coach on the field. He called him his Co-Defensive Coordinator. So, Devon Betty has seen all the action these last couple of series,” according to ESPN television broadcast crew of Dave Pasch and Dusty Dvoracek.
Moore did eventually return to the game for N.C. State but was injured again in the second half. The Wolfpack were really banged up on Friday night, but it didn’t matter. They managed to pull off a 30-27 stunner in double overtime against the Tar Heels.

During the 2021 season, Moore was named an honorable mention All-ACC performer. In 2020, he racked up 27 tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage, which ranked highly among the nation’s linebackers in the Power Five conferences.

Coming out of Lloyd C. Bird High School (Chesterfield, Virginia), Moore was rated as the No. 105 linebacker in America in the 2017 cycle. He was also rated as a three-star prospect, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings.
The N.C. State defense did an incredible job all game long on North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye, who had another disappointing showing. That makes back-to-back weeks of disappointing outings for the ‘Heels prolific freshman signal-caller, who many in the national media have already pegged as the No. 1 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.
