Maryland transfer safety Tamarcus Cooley commits to N.C. State
Maryland freshman safety Tamarcus Cooley recently entered the transfer portal searching for a new home. He made the news official on Monday and committed to the N.C. State Wolfpack.
When he originally announced his commitment coming out of high school, Cooley verbally pledged to the Wolfpack in July of 2022, before flipping and signing with the Maryland Terrapins in December of 2022. Now, it appears that he’s committed to N.C. State for the second time in his college football career.
Cooley played in two games this year for the Terrapins in his freshman season. He finished with four total tackles. Cooley did not dress in the final three games of the regular season.
In the 2023 recruiting cycle, he was rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 91 overall safety prospect in America, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. Cooley played his high school football for Rolesville (Rolesville, North Carolina).
He boasted several scholarship offers coming out of high school, including Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, West Virginia, Mississippi State, Louisville, and others.
