NC State QB MJ Morris to redshirt remainder of 2023 season
NC State Wolfpack quarterback MJ Morris is planning to redshirt the remainder of the 2023 college football season, according to The Wolfpacker’s Ethan McDowell.
The Wolfpack are coming off back-to-back victories over some tough ACC opponents, and Morris has been solid in both clashes. However, it seems as if he’s looking to save some of his eligibility, after getting a taste of what college football is like.
Over four games in 2023, Morris has accumulated 719 passing yards, seven passing touchdowns and five interceptions. His rushing ability hasn’t been on display, but perhaps in the future he’ll have more opportunities to show off his legs.
With Morris redshirting, it’s believed veteran quarterback Brennan Armstrong will step back into the starting role. Armstrong has a wealth of experience, and started for the Wolfpack to begin the season. He’ll be ready to assume the job once again.
Regardless, it’s a fascinating decision from MJ Morris and NC State, and one that’s coming at an interesting time. Nevertheless, the Wolfpack will move forward, hoping to carry the momentum they’ve earned with a couple of victories.

More on MJ Morris, NC State Wolfpack
Prior to NC State’s bye week, it was evident Morris believe the Wolfpack had some work to do to rebound this season, as he claimed the team planned to do some soul-searching over their time off.
“We’re really going to do a lot of soul-searching and see how we want to finish this season. We want to finish off the right way,” said Morris. “We definitely want to come together as a group; that’s really what we’ve got to do right now. Now, just come together as an offense, lean on one another, (and) watch film together no matter how late at night it is. I don’t care.
“We will stay till 12 (midnight) watching film at night, if that’s what we gotta do. But we’ve got to do something to fix it. So I feel like this (bye) definitely comes at the right time- definitely a lot of work to be done.”
Since, NC State has stacked a couple of wins, over some big time ACC programs. That has Wolfpack faithful excited for the future, with Morris leading the charge.
