NC State’s Trey Parker played well off the bench for them as a true freshman guard. Now, he’ll be the program’s latest loss in the portal amidst the coaching change in Raleigh.

Parker plans to enter his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. That comes per On3’s Joe Tipton on Friday.

Parker played in 27 games, with one start, this season for the Wolfpack. He averaged 4.6 points (41% FG, 35.7% 3PT), 1.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 0.5 steals in the 11.9 minutes per game that he played as a reserve.

Parker, a native of Fayetteville an hour south of campus, opted to play at Overtime Elite after previously being at Vertical Academy (Charlotte) and New Life Christian Academy. He was the No. 148 recruit and a three-star prospect in the 2024 cycle. He also rated as the No. 6 CG in the class and a Top-20 player out of Georgia with OTE based in Atlanta. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. That made him the lowest-rated of the three signees for the Wolfpack’s past class alongside Paul McNeil and Bryce Heard, who has also since entered the portal.

With that, Parker is now the seventh departure in the portal during this cycle for NC State amidst the coaching change from Kevin Keatts to Will Wade. He joins Heard along with Marcus Hill, Ben Middlebrooks, Dennis Parker, Ismaël Diouf, and Mike James.

As for additions, the Wolfpack have added a pair of players from Wade’s past program. Quadir Copeland and Alyn Breed have both since followed their coach from McNeese State. Both are now in the Top-250 in the latest update to the On3 Industry Ranking of 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players with Copeland at No. 189 and Breed at No. 221.
