NC State two-time NCAA qualifier Dylan Fishback entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to Willie Saylor of MatScouts.

Entering the 2025-26 season, Fishback twice got to the Blood Round at 184 pounds for the Wolfpack wrestling team. He went 16-8 last season and is 36-17 in his career with NC State.

According to WrestleStat, he’ll have two years of eligibility left. The only other 184 pounder listed on NC State’s current roster is Rylan Breen, a redshirt freshman for next season.

Fishback entering the portal and potentially leaving NC State is a big blow to the team’s 2026 goals. Going by WrestleStat’s algorithm, Fishback was one of five top 10 wrestlers returning for the Wolfpack.

That included 125 pounder Vince Robinson, who won the 2025 NCAA title as a redshirt freshman, going 24-3 this pas season. He defeated Oklahoma State’s Troy Spratley 2-1 in tiebreakers in the finals.

“I’ve got a lot of will to win,” Robinson said shortly after winning the title. “Like, before I step on the mat, know nobody wants this more than me. Nobody wants it more than me. It’s like somebody’s trying to take everything I want.”

His ability to never give up and keep grinding were evident. Head coach Pat Popolizio said so earlier this year.

“That defines the competitor in him,” Popolizio said. “The easy thing to do would be to lay down and just surrender. Or you can come out swinging. It’s a long season, it’s a grueling season. There’s always opportunities that lie in front.

“The guys that can see long term are usually the guys that can break through and get what they want at the end of the year. He never gave up on hope and belief. When his opportunity came, he shined.”
