Pete Thamel reports NC State QB MJ Morris is gametime decision vs North Carolina
With the Wolfpack and Tar Heels preparing to play for dominance in North Carolina later today, things may have just become more difficult for NC State. They’ve been without Devin Leary since the middle of the season due to a season-ending torn pectoral. Now, they may be without his replacement, freshman MJ Morris, against UNC today.
Per Pete Thamel at ESPN, Morris is labeled as a game-time decision this afternoon due to a lower-body injury. That means it may be a combination of reserves Ben Finley and Jack Chambers for the Wolfpack against the Tar Heels.

Over his last three starts, Morris has completed 61.1% of his passes for 610 yards and seven touchdowns. He’s 2-1 as their QB1 and has been instrumental in keeping the team afloat since Leary went down. However, the rotation method isn’t anything new for NC State since they lost Leary. Chambers and Finley have both seen time over Leary’s absence as well while Morris has been the biggest beneficiary through the stretch.

The Wolfpack already entered this game as a near-touchdown underdog with Morris in the lineup. If he isn’t good to go and Dave Doeren has to play QB by committee, though, things will be even more difficult for NC State in Chapel Hill on Friday. Only time will tell how it will affect this season’s matchup come the 3:30 p.m. EST kickoff later today.
