Texas Tech edge rusher Joseph Adedire commits to transfer to NC State

Texas Tech Red Raiders edge rusher Joseph Adedire has committed to Transfer to the NC State Wolfpack. He spent the previous three seasons with the Red Raiders.
Coming out of high school at Mansfield Summit in Arlington, Texas, Joseph Adedire was a four-star recruit, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was also the 329th-ranked player nationally and the 40th-ranked defensive lineman in his recruiting cycle. Prior to going to Texas Tech, he had been committed to TCU and found himself heavily recruited.
In his freshman and sophomore seasons, Adedire was a key member of the Texas Tech defense. However, he was unable to play at all for the Red Raiders in 2024 thanks to a foot injury in the preseason that cost him the season. For his career, he’s played in 24 games and made 44 total tackles. That includes eight tackles for a loss and two sacks. He’s also defended a pass.
Despite the injury that cost him the 2024 season, Adedire is considered to be healthy now and ready to go in 2025. It also allowed him to take a redshirt in 2024, which gives him two more years of eligibility to use while at NC State.
The NC State Wolfpack are coming off a challenging 6-7 season. The 12th for head coach Dave Doeren in Raleigh, it was the team’s first losing season since 2019 and just their third during his tenure. The season was also marred early on by the injury to quarterback Grayson McCall, which ultimately ended his career. Including a bowl loss to ECU, the Wolfpack dropped three of their final four games.

On the defensive side of the ball, NC State finished the season giving up 29.7 points per game, which was 98th out of 134 teams in scoring defense. The Wolfpack’s 23 sacks or 1.77 sacks per game was 80th in sacks by a defense. Their 6.54 tackles for a loss per game was 33rd nationally in tackles for loss. So, there is some clear room to improve on that side of the ball.
Dave Doeren has been active in trying to improve through the Transfer Portal. NC State has the 60th-ranked transfer class in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings. That class has seen 22 players transfer out and 12 transfer to the program. However, that number doesn’t include Joseph Adedire to this point.
