Murray (Ky.) three-star athlete Jeremiah Jones has committed to Nebraska, he announced on Monday.

Jones chose the Huskers over Louisville, as well as offers from Murray State, Arkansas State and a handful of other programs.

NU is recruiting him to potentially play a multitude of positions, including in the secondary, playing linebacker or possibly even wide receiver. They primarily like him as a safety, but he was recruited by multiple position coaches and developed an excellent relationship with the staff.

“I talked to Coach Cooper, Coach White, Chris Coulter, and Coach Rhule,” he told HuskerOnline after his official visit to Lincoln. “I spent time with Coach McGuire, too. Nebraska likes me as a rover safety. I could come down and play middle linebacker or be in the box, cover, drop back, and middle third. It’s basically the guy that they move around.

“I am being recruited to play at that spot on defense, but offensively, coach McGuire told me he wanted me to come and play the X receiver spot for him. Offensively, I could do that as well. They told me they just wanted me there and that I could play multiple positions, and if I got big enough, I could move down to linebacker. I know I can do it.”

Something felt different about Lincoln to Jones

The 6-foot-5, 217-pounder visited Lincoln last month and also took an official visit to Louisville. But what he saw at Nebraska, including the facilities made them stand out above the rest.

“I have been to Louisville for an official visit and saw Florida State,” he said. “But all of the facilities here in Nebraska were bigger and better. The people are just better. Everyone is nice and kind. It’s bigger in Nebraska!”

Jones is the No. 666 prospect nationally, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the country’s No. 33 athlete and No. 5 recruit in Kentucky.

On3 is significantly higher on him than other services though, tabbing him as a high three-star recruit and the No. 17 athlete in the 2025 class.

Jones was a one-man wrecking crew for his high school program as a junior, hauling in 22 catches for 326 yards and two touchdowns and rushing 62 times for 304 yards and three TDs.

He also completed 54 of 102 passes for 643 yards and six TDs. And on defense he had 66 tackles, four sacks, and five tackles for a loss. Stacked on top of that was two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries, including one he returned for a TD.
