Ahron Ulis injury update: Fred Hoiberg offers encouraging timeline on Nebraska guard
Nebraska head coach Fred Hoiberg was pleased to report guard Ahron Ulis was making progress on a recent injury.
The Huskers’ senior hasn’t played since December 13th when he logged 17 minutes in an 85-68 win over Indiana. He scored just three points in the game.
But as Nebraska progresses through the week, Ulis could be closer to a return.
“Ahron’s making progress,” Hoiberg said. “He’ll get a light workout in tomorrow and then most likely do some non contact work on Wednesday and we’ll see how he responds to that.”
Nebraska is coming off a 77-43 win over Southern University Monday night. The team is now 11-2 on the season.
This year, Ulis is averaging just 3.4 points per game, 2.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and shooting 32.4% from the floor.
The Iowa transfer did not play last season and has worked his way back into basketball shape. He averaged a career-high 6.4 points in 2022-23 for the Hawkeyes.
As a member of the Class of 2020, Ulis was a three-star recruit out of Chicago Heights (Ill.) Marian Catholic, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 5 overall prospect in the state, the No. 30 point guard in the class and the No. 158 overall prospect in the class.

Ahron Ulis inching closer to return from injury
With Ulis getting closer to a return, Nebraska will get another key piece back for its lineup. Hoiberg has certainly pushed all of the right buttons for the Huskers, winners of five straight.
After some rough seasons, Hoiberg is 74-96 overall at Nebraska, but is now 44-13 dating back to last season.
The turnaround was so good, Nebraska extended Hoiberg’s contract through the 2028-29 season.
“I’m appreciative of the confidence our administration has shown in our staff’s leadership of the Husker basketball program,” Hoiberg said in a press release in March. “With our history at the University of Nebraska, this is a special place for our family. We want to continue to build a program that our fans can embrace and one that represents the values of Nebraskans.
“With the phenomenal facilities and fan support in place, we are positioned to do things that have never been accomplished by the Husker men’s basketball program.”
