Former Alabama offensive tackle Elijah Pritchett has committed to Nebraska out of the NCAA transfer portal. On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported the news.

Pritchett committed to Matt Rhule and the Cornhuskers after visiting Nebraska. He entered the portal on Jan. 4 following the end of the Crimson Tide’s season.

During the 2024 season, Pritchett played in all 12 games, including 10 of which he started at right tackle. During the season, Pritchett was named to the Outland Trophy Watch List and even was named an Outland Player of the Week after the Crimson Tide beat Wisconsin.

Alabama finished this past season 9-4 overall — the first time the Crimson Tide had finished with less than 10 wins in a season since 2007, which was Nick Saban’s first season as head coach. Pritchett most recently played in the ReliaQuest Bowl against Michigan.

In 2023, Pritchett appeared in 13 games as a reserve offensive tackle and on special teams. The 6-foot-6, 312-pound offensive lineman proved himself a valuable asset off the bench as he helped lead Alabama to a 12-2 record and appearance in the College Football Playoff.

As a recruit, Pritchett was a four-star prospect out of Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia. He ranked as the No. 34 overall player and No. 4 offensive tackle in the 2022 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.

He’s now headed up north to play in the Big Ten with Nebraska. Matt Rhule and company have the Cornhuskers on the uptick heading into 2025. They finished this past season 7-6 and made their first bowl game since 2016.

The portal officially opened on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024. More than 2,800 FBS scholarship players entered their names into the NCAA’s transfer database during the 2023-24 school year. Removing those who withdrew or went pro, the final total sat at 2,707 transfers.

That means roughly 25 percent of all FBS scholarship players hit free agency in one year, per On3’s Pete Nakos.
