Arkansas softball transfer Lauren Camenzind committed to Nebraska, according to a post on her Twitter profile.

“Coming home (heart emoji),” Camenzind wrote on Twitter. “Do excited and proud to represent nebraska. extremely thankful to be apart of this program. let’s do this husker softball!

A utility player, Camenzind played primarily at catcher but can play the field as well, and should provide quite a boost for the Huskers. But she won’t go alone.

Her sister Hannah Camenzind also committed to a transfer to Lincoln, Nebraska.

“Home (heart emoji),” Hannah wrote. “Couldn’t be more thankful and excited to be coming home to represent Nebraska. this program is something special. husker softball we’re ready!”

The twin sisters are from Valley (Neb.) Skutt Catholic High School, so a return home makes sense for the pair.

Lauren Camenzind started 32 of 36 games this season for the Razorbacks and hit .132, had one home run and drove in nine runs. She had a 90.2% fielding percentage while behind the plate.

As a freshman in 2023, Camenzind saw action in 50 games, with 47 starts at catcher and was named NFCA All-South Region Third Team. She had a .292 batting average, had 38 hits, one home run and 19 RBI.

Hannah was named All-SEC Second Team in 2023 and a three-time SEC Freshman of the Week last season as a freshman. She also had an impressive sophomore season.

Hannah Camenzind hit .308, had 12 RBI and 24 hits total this year. She started 21 of 36 games. As a pitcher, she had a 3.07 ERA, went 9-1 on the mound, 59.1 innings pitched and 25 strikeouts.

The Camenzind twins were not the first players to hit the portal for Arkansas. Nicole McGaffin announced her intentions to enter the portal back on May 23.

“I first want to thank God for the last 2 years at Arkansas,” she wrote on Twitter. “I am thankful for the people I met and things that I have learned as an athlete and woman. I am very excited for what the future holds. I want to announce that I am now in the Transfer Portal with 2 years of Eligibility.”

Arkansas is 37-18 this season after a one-and-done loss to Missouri in the SEC Tournament. In their NCAA Tournament opening regional, the Razorbacks beat SEMO 3-2 before losing to Arizona and Villanova 2-1 and 7-2, respectively.
