Three-star athlete Keelan Smith of Liberty (MO) North High announced his commitment to Nebraska Friday afternoon.

The 6-foot-3, 210 pounder chose the Cornhuskers over Missouri and Kansas State.

Smith on why he chose Nebraska

“Definitely the family connection everyone has,” Smith said. “Everyone is friendly and all love each other, but they still get after it everyday. I love the coaches, they have been at every level of football so they know what they’re doing.”

Relationship with coaching staff + Nebraska’s plan for him

“It’s all love with everyone but competition at the same time,” Smith said. “They all want to win, and they make each other better everyday. I’m close with coach Rhule, coach McGuire, Keith, Omar just to name a few. But they all check on me everyday and make sure my family and I are straight.”

The Show Me State athlete joins coach Rhule and the Cornhuskers’ Top 25 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by Roger Gradney, Ian Flynt, and others.
