3-star QB Daniel Kaelin commits to Nebraska Cornhuskers: 'It means so much to me to know I will be a Husker'
Nebraska has only offered three quarterbacks in the 2024 cycle. One of them is Bellevue (Neb.) Bellevue West three-star quarterback Daniel Kaelin, who committed to Missouri in March.
However, the Cornhuskers recently came surging back in his recruitment. On Thursday, Kaelin told head coach Matt Rhule that he would commit to Nebraska before backing off his pledge to the Tigers a day later. Kaelin made his college destination official on Saturday.
“I believe that Nebraska has the potential to get back to winning lots of games and coach Rhule is definitely the right man for the job,” Kaelin told On3. “He has a track record of turning around programs, which is why I believe in him to make a big change down in Lincoln.”
According to Kaelin, there was not a specific moment in which he knew he was going to Lincoln. Rather, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound signal-caller gradually realized that “being a Nebraska Cornhusker was no doubt the best decision for not only me, but my family as well.”
With Kaelin’s decision, the Cornhuskers are keeping the No. 4 player in Nebraska home. He also gives Rhule and Co. their quarterback of the future.
“It means so much to me to know I will be a Husker and playing for the team I have imagined myself playing for since I first started playing football,” said Kaelin, the No. 483 overall prospect and No. 28 quarterback in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking. “Staying home also means being closer to family and friends, which will allow me to have a greater support system, which is extremely important for an athlete, and for them to be able to stay close to me and watch all of my games in person.”
Kaelin is excited to play for Rhule and his staff
Kaelin has visited Nebraska numerous times. One of those trips came on Dec. 4, after Rhule was hired.

“The culture coach Rhule is building is a culture of integrity, hard work, fun, and winning,” Kaelin said. “Coach Rhule came to Nebraska to win football games, and to win now.”
Kaelin knows that Nebraska “is where I want to be.” When he arrives on campus, the three-star is excited to learn from the Cornhuskers’ coaches.
In addition to Rhule, Kaelin is close with offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield and offensive analyst Adam DiMichele. Both staffers are involved with training the quarterbacks, per Kaelin.
“Through watching film with coach Satterfield and talking about the offense with the staff, I know that I will fit what they are doing offensively,” Kaelin said. “All three of those guys have extremely competitive personalities, which I think rubs off on those around them as well.”
