Dylan Raiola injury update: Matt Rhule reveals USC availability for Nebraska QB
Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule provided an injury update on starting quarterback Dylan Raiola on Thursday. Raiola is good to go for Saturday’s game against USC, Rhule shared.
“Dylan is ready to go. Great week of practice,” Matt Rhule said.
The news about Dylan Raiola comes after he was injured in Nebraska’s most recent game against UCLA on Nov. 2. He left that game in the fourth quarter with a back injury, and the Huskers ended up falling 27-20. ESPN insider Pete Thamel revealed last week that scans on Raiola came back clear.
Dylan Raiola was 14 of 27 passing for 177 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception prior to leaving the UCLA game. He was replaced by Heinrich Haarberg, who completed 2 of 7 passes for 32 yards and an interception.
Nebraska has dropped three straight games after getting off to a 5-1 start. However, Rhule made a big staff change this week that he hopes will get the Cornhuskers back on track.
Rhule promoted Dana Holgorsen to offensive coordinator. He is replacing Marcus Satterfield. The Cornhuskers have struggled on offense lately and haven’t scored more than 20 points in a game since September.

Head coach Matt Rhule announced the change Monday as Holgorsen will call the plays for the final three games. Raiola, who’s nursing a nagging back injury, just wants to get better and win.
That’s how Rhule put it, as well as seemingly challenging his players to make plays once they’re in position.
“Dylan trusts me and trusts the program,” Rhule said. “What are we doing moving forward? He just took it as ‘what are we doing today?’ He’s trying to get his back healthier. I think all the guys had a positive reaction to it. Go back to what I said last week. Players need to play. Players need to go make plays. You watch on Saturdays, players have to go make plays. Dana and the staff will give the players the best opportunities to make plays and then we need the guys to go make them.
“The whole pay calling thing is, ‘we handled that’ now go make some plays. Football is a game where players win games. We got good players and we expect them to win some games.”
