ESPN draft expert reveals NFL comparison, best team fits for Trey Palmer
Former Nebraska WR Trey Palmer is one of the most intriguing players in the 2023 NFL Draft. His 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame mixed with his skills and speed gives him the potential of making his mark on the league as fast as his rookie season.
ESPN draft expert Matt Miller, who ranks Palmer as the No. 10 WR in this draft class, compared the former Cornhusker to Tennessee Titans wideout Robert Woods. Miller even named the Titans as one of the teams with interest in Palmer, alongside the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots.
Miller gives Palmer a third-round grade with the chance to improve that ranking in the pre-draft process. Palmer specialized in big plays during his junior season in 2022 and could catch the eyes of teams wanting threats in the vertical passing game. He was the 10th-best WR in college football with 10 catches of 25 yards or more last season.
“He’s one of the most explosive players in the class,” said one NFL scout, per Miller. “You love his ability to get up the field and win vertically. He has legit deep ball chops, but he’s also loose and agile on underneath routes.”

Another scout Miller spoke to believes Palmer can develop into a legitimate No. 1 option in an NFL offense “He has the athletic profile to be really good. Maybe he starts as your third guy, but [Palmer] could easily develop into more than that,” the scout told Miller.
Palmer had a record-setting season in his lone year in Lincoln. He broke the NU single-season mark with 1,043 receiving yards and ranked second with 71 catches. He spent the first three seasons (two minus his redshirt) of his college career at LSU, where he was responsible for 452 yards and three touchdowns before transferring out of the program.
He will find out his fate when the 2023 NFL Draft gets underway from Thursday, April 27 through Saturday, April 29 in Kansas City, Missouri.
