Nebraska fans start “Fire Frost” chant
“‘Fire Frost’ chants emanating from student section. Georgia Southern 35, Nebraska 28, 12:12 left in third quarter,” detailed On3’s Steven Sipple.
The Eagles ended the second half with a lengthy nine-play drive for 67 yards where they threatened to score before the break, but ultimately the drive ended with an illegal snap and no points scored. The teams entered the locker rooms tied at 28-28, but Georgia Southern began the second half right where they left off.
Nebraska gave up a touchdown drive on an eight-play, 75-yard touchdown effort — prompting the beginning of “Fire Frost” chants from the student section at the game.

Ultimately, the calls for Frost’s job were sent into overdrive when the final whistle sounded as the Eagles beat the Cornhuskers 45-42. Nebraska scored a touchdown to take a four-point lead late in the game and needed just one defensive stop to secure the win. Georgia Southern proceeded to move down the length of the field in the final minutes of the game and score the game-winning touchdown with just over 30 seconds remaining.
Down the stretch, Nebraska had multiple chances to stop the game-winning drive but fell short due to a combination of penalties of big chunks of yardage given up. The Eagles completed a fourth-down pass on a gutsy slant route, as well as picking up a big gain with a defensive lapse down the sideline. With the end zone in firing range, Nebraska committed a defensive pass interference penalty that set up the eventual touchdown run to win the game.
