Gabe Ervin shares how he has seen Nebraska roster buy in throughout spring
With Matt Rhule taking over as the head coach at Nebraska, the Cornhuskers needed to buy into the new staff and the new way of doing things. According to running back Gabe Ervin, the team has done exactly that during spring ball.
Following the spring game, Ervin explained how he’s seen the roster buy-in throughout spring practice.
“As soon as the new coaching staff came into the office, we bought in,” Gabe Ervin explained. “You know, that was the main goal for us, we had to buy into the process because this new coaching staff is really experienced and they’ve dealt with a lot of NFL experience and so you have no choice but to buy in. If you want to be great and if you want to pursue your dreams to the NFL, you know, you’ve got to listen to them. And we have to buy into the process and we’re gonna take this thing to the fall and we’re gonna be a great team.”
Gabe Ervin has been incredibly excited about the new staff from the start. Back at the start of spring ball, Ervin praised the staff for how detail-orientated they are.
“This whole staff under Matt Rhule, they’re kind of detail-oriented,” Gabe Ervin said.
“They kind of remind me of my staff from high school. A lot of detail-oriented, focused on the details and willing to win. They’re really focused on building that winning culture and trying to find the details. Each and every day, trying to stack days to be the best team in the country.”

Gabe Ervin says he feels like his old self
Through just his short time with Matt Rhule, Gabe Ervin has already started to feel like himself again.
“I felt great out there. I just feel like the old me. And I’m just trying to pursue my dreams, take a step forward, get better each and every day. I’m not going to take this summer for granted. I’m gonna take it, work hard, and get ready for the season,” Ervin said.
“Old me? Probably like in high school when I was injury-free, nothing was wrong with my knees, and everything was healthy. Now I feel bigger, faster, stronger. I just feel like an alpha on that field.”
